NIKHILA UTKAL KUI SAMAJ UNION ( NUKSU ) ODISHA

Nikhila Utkal Kui Samaj Union is the first kui samaj organisation established before independence in 1923 to organize kui/kandha people of Odisha and fight for their cause. leaders like Pitambara Malik had worked day and night to bring the diverse kandha group under one umbrella. Kui/kandha people of odisha live primarily in the present district of Kandhamal, Boudh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Koraput, Nuapada, Malkangiri and also sparcely in other districts. He tried to unite all the people and establish an institution naming KUI SAMAJ . Through this institution our leaders carried out activities for greater cause of kui/kandha tribe.

They used to regularly organise meetings, every year they organizes a MAHASABHA ,a huge gathering of people to spread message, aware people, listen their problems, proposes reforms in society, etc. This organisation finally got registered in 1949 under the Socities Act- 1860 in the name of NIKHILA UTKAL KUI SAMAJ UNION for the entire State of Odisha having its headquarter in G.Udayagiri in Kandhamal district.
